Thanks to Camille and Carrie for the invitation to join their Parade of Quilts.
It took a long year and a half, but I did eventually finish my first quilt. The pattern was taught at a LQS and is based on a design by Freddy Moran called Freddy Dot Com.
The front was so wild, I chose a simple black pinstripe for the back.
My latest quilt (below) was finished just last month and was the subject of my last post.
What did I learn along the way? I've made four other quilts since I finished my first quilt 2 years ago. With each new project I become more comfortable (and faster) using my rulers and cutting tools. I love fabric in general, but dread shopping for a specific project. Hopefully, one day I'll love that part of quilting, too.
Ohmigosh! They're both awesome! Gorgeous colors? Check. Flat and square? Check. Serious-I-want-that-quilt-quotient? Check. You rock!
I have to tell you that I'm a huge fan of Freddy Moran. I got to take a class from her about 10 years ago and while our quilts couldn't be more different, she remains one of my biggest inspirations. She rocks too.
But you rock more. Thank you for sharing your quilts!

You did perfectly pieced curved piecing on your first quilt??? (from what I can see, at least!) Oh my gosh, I'm jealous. I can't believe how great your first quilt turned out. AMAZING!

your first quilt is stunning and looks really complicated...go you for giving that a go on the first time quilting. I wish i were brave enough to try that now after 5 or so years of quilting....i might need 20 to get to that level

What an ambitious first quilt! Mine was just plain squares...and that was tough for me!
